The GT special edition version of the new MX-5 RF lists at $44,890, or $1000 over the regular GT version that sits beneath it.
The GT special edition gets softer Auburn nappa leather trim and a blacked-out roof treatment that further accentuates the roof’s flying buttresses.
Aside from the electric folding hardtop that will raise or lower in 13 seconds, the GT special edition also scores front seat heaters, nine-speaker Bose audio, seven-inch MZD Connect multimedia screen with sat nav and embedded apps (but no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto), climate control, auto headlights and wipers, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, active headlights, proximity unlocking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Like all RF’s, the GT special edition gets the 118kW/200Nm 2.0-litre petrol engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission, with the option of a six-speed torque converter auto for an extra $2000.
