Peugeot 207 thermostat and engine repairs

I have had trouble with my 2012 Peugeot 207 Sportium. Just 13 days out from its warranty the thermostat was not working and the car's system indicated that it was not to be driven and needed to be towed for repairs. The repair consisted of a replacement thermostat at a cost $950 for labour with the part at cost. A year and a half later my car was running very roughly and I was advised by an independent dealer that it needed a reconditioned motor at the cost of $6000. I took the car to where I had purchased it and after a protracted set of negotiations it was agreed that they would fix the problem – a new head gasket and two valves to be replaced at the cost of $1900 and a loan car for the period of the repair. I am well into that process now. I believed that this is the best deal that I can get and am appreciative of the offer. Do you agree with me or is there something else that I should do?

I think you've done well to get that deal. The problem you now have with the engine could well have started with the earlier thermostat problem, so getting a deal to fix the engine now at a modest cost is a good outcome.
