Aston Martin DBS Superleggera 2018 pricing and spec confirmed

Aston Martin has revealed its new flagship model, the DBS Superleggera powered by a specifically tuned version of the brand’s 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 engine producing 533kW (715hp) and 900Nm.

CarsGuide was given a top-secret preview of the new supercar which Aston has dubbed ‘the brute in the suit’, claimed to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 3.4sec and storm on to a maximum velocity of 340km/h.

The 2+2 super GT sits on a lightweight bonded aluminium platform evolved from the matrix underpinning the DB11, and features a dramatic aero-influenced design including an intricately sculpted carbon body, an F1-style double diffuser, and massive carbon-ceramic brakes.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a new eight-speed ZF transaxle, featuring a mechanical limited-slip diff, and the suspension consists of forged double wishbones at the front and a sophisticated multi-link system at the rear, with adaptive damping standard.

The car sits on fat 21-inch rims shod with ultra-high-performance Pirelli A7 P Zero rubber developed specifically for this car (265/35 front, 305/30 rear), and lifting the single-piece clamshell bonnet not only reveals the bruising V12 but sharply angled fins at the top of the front wheelarches designed to channel air passing through the brakes and nose-mounted cooling systems.

The car’s interior is equally striking with ‘Sports Plus’ seats trimmed in a combination of Caithness leather (a highly tactile, soft-finish leather sourced from Scotland) and Alcantara, with a distinctive ‘Tri-axle quilting’ optionally available.

According to Kevin Wall, Aston Martin’s regional manager for Australiasia, the DBS Superleggera is due on sale in Australia before the end of the year, with pricing confirmed at $517,000 (before on-road costs), taking aim at the Ferrari 812 Superfast ($610,000).
