Nissan adds N-Sport versions of X-Trail, Pathfinder and 370Z
N-Sport versions of the Pathfinder, X-Trail and 370Z are limited in numbers, and the value proposition depends on the model.

Nissan Australia has announced the addition of three new limited-edition N-Sport model lines to be offered on the X-Trail, Pathfinder and 370Z.

The new models are said to ‘up the cool factor’ of each of the respective donor cars, and these N-Sport versions follow in the tyre tracks of the popular Navara N-Sport the brand sold last year.

The X-Trail N-Sport is based on the mid-spec ST-L petrol model, retaining the same 2.5-litre engine and CVT, but available with 2WD (at $39,250) or 4WD ($41,250). There will be 600 examples of the N-Sport model available, and the price increase over respective donor ST-L models is $2050.

Note, the X-Trail N-Sport is only available in five-seat guise, but you can get a seven-seat ST-L model if that’s what you need.

The X-Trail ST-L N-Sport essentially brandishes a black-out styling pack over the ST-L model, with 18-inch black alloy wheels (stepping up from 17s on the ST-L), gloss black mirror caps, a lower body kit with dark metallic front and rear bumper finisher and black side skirts, and a dark chrome front grille and black roof rails.

You can have the X-Trail ST-L N-Sport in four colours, and none will cost you any extra – 'Diamond Black' (which seems a bit pointless), 'Gun Metallic' (grey), 'Brilliant Silver' or 'Ivory Pearl' (white).

People who need even more space will be able to get the Nissan Pathfinder N-Sport, which is based on the ST-L 2WD model. It costs $56,425, marking an identical $2050 add-on to the ST-L.

As with the X-Trail, the Pathfinder ST-L N-Sport features bigger wheels (20s, rather than 18s) and the black highlight pack: mirror caps, grille, front and rear accents and roof rails. The colour choices, again, are black, grey and white, all at no extra cost. A total of 250 Pathfinder N-Sport models will be offered.

The other N-Sport addition is the 370Z, which is said to draw inspiration from the Datsun 280ZX Black Gold edition from way back in 1980.

It gains body length, 'GT' decals, black 18-inch alloy wheels and black gloss side mirrors. And while the SUVs with N-Sport extras don’t see changes inside, the 370Z has been “splashed with colour”, including yellow accents on the doors, steering wheel, shifter, knee bash protection pads and across the dash, and the black cloth seats get yellow embroidery, too.

There are 50 examples of the 370Z N-Sport available, at a price of $48,490 for the six-speed manual or $50,990 for the seven-speed auto, which actually makes the N-Sport more affordable than the regular 370Z (which lists at $49,990 for the manual and $52,490 for the auto).

Three colours to choose from, here: 'Chicane Yellow', 'Diamond Black' and 'Shiro White'– and the latter two add $550 to the price.

All three new N-Sport models go on sale August 1.

Nissan N-Sport list pricing (before on-road costs):

Nissan 370Z N-Sport manual – $48,490

Nissan 370Z N-Sport auto – $50,990

Nissan X-Trail ST-L N-Sport 2WD auto – $39,250

Nissan X-Trail ST-L N-Sport 4WD auto – $41,250

Nissan Pathfinder ST-L N-Sport 2WD auto – $56,425

Are the N-Sport models worth considering over the regular versions of the X-Trail, Pathfinder and 370Z? Tell us what you think in the comments below.
