BMW will top its current high-performing M3 sedan range with the Club Sport (CS) variant priced at $179,900 before on-roads, $50,000 more expensive that the entry-level Pure and $33,000 pricier than the mid-spec Competition.

Fitted with the same upgrades as its $189,900 M4 CS sibling, the four-door Club Sport’s twin-turbo 3.0-litre straight six produces 338kW of power at 6250rpm and 600Nm of torque from 4000-5380rpm.

The M3 CS rides on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres and measures 265/35 in the front and 285/30 in the rear.

Just 7kW/50Nm more than its Pure and Competition M3 siblings, the seven-speed dual-clutch and rear-drive CS will also sprint from 0-100km/h 0.1 seconds quicker, at 3.9s, while returning an improved fuel consumption figure of 8.5 litres per 100km.

All the M goodies feature, including launch control, drive select, an active exhaust system and a limited-slip differential, while the adaptive suspension can be configured across three settings – ‘Comfort’, ‘Sport’ and ‘Sport+’.

The M3 CS rides on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres – the same rubber featured on the M4 GTS– and measures 265/35 in the front and 285/30 in the rear. Rims are also staggered with forged 10-spoke lightweight 19-inch hoops in the front and 20-inch wheels in the back.

Four-piston front brakes and two-piston rears ensure capable stopping performance, but buyers can also option 'M Ceramic' units that up the grabbers to six-pot fronts and four-pot rears.

Tipping the scales at 1585kg, the M3 makes use of lightweight carbon-fibre cross the front splitter, while carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) features on the bonnet, roof and rear diffuser.

Other exterior details include LED headlights, black-painted kidney grille slats, pronounced lower air intakes, darkened side widow trims, smoked tail-lights and CS badging.

Inside the M3 CS is BMW’s latest 8.8-inch ‘iDrive6’ multimedia system with sat nav and Bluetooth connectivity.

Five exterior paint colours are on offer, including 'San Marino Blue', 'Black Sapphire' and 'Alpine White' as standard, while 'Lime Rock Grey' and 'Frozen Dark Blue II' will cost extra.

Inside, the M3 CS is differentiated by an Alcantara trim, an etched CS centre console, two-tone front sports seats with leather and grey contrast stitching, a bespoke steering wheel, and BMW’s latest 8.8-inch ‘iDrive6’ multimedia system with sat nav and Bluetooth connectivity, while a 12-speaker sound system is also included.

The M3 CS will be available from June, while the number of vehicles allocated to Australia out of the 1200 global production run is still to be determined.
