John Cooper Works is so formal – call it the JCW like everybody else. This is the top grade of the Hatch and Convertible ranges. Prices start at $49,900 for the JCW three-door hatch and step up to $57,900 for the JCW Convertible. You can’t get a five-door Hatch in JCW form. 

The three-door Hatch and the Convertible in the JCW grade come standard with an 8.8-inch screen with harman/kardon 12-speaker stereo, head-up display, JCW interior trim, cloth and Dinamica upholstery (‘eco-suede’), stainless steel pedals, front parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, LED headlights and Union Jack pattern tail lights, and 18-inch alloys, updated media system with 4G connectivity, sat nav, reversing camera and rear parking sensors, wireless Apple CarPlay and digital radio. 

The JCW is the hardcore one in the range and comes 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine making 170kW and 320Nm.

The JCW’s four-cylinder is the thirstiest in the range, with Mini claiming that in the three-door you’ll use 6.0L/100km while the Convertible will need 6.3L/100km.
